| ACTIVITY In order to be considered active, each player is responsible for posting two threads and one journal entry for each character a month. Threads can be done via Gdoc and linked, done over AIM and logged, or written out in comments. Emails and IM conversations between characters will not be accepted towards monthly activity. Event threads count as 1 scene and are not counted for each subthread within. After each check is performed a list will be posted on the Out Of Character community. If you did not pass the check, you have one week from the date the check is posted to post a scene or journal entry (which ever of the two caused you to fail the check) or face removal from the game. Make-up activity does not count towards activity for the following month. HIATUSES If you will be absent for a period of time that will affect your activity please be sure to let the Mods know! We can’t excuse you if we don’t know that you are unable to play! If for some reason you are unable to notify us ahead of time (such as unexpected computer failure) please contact us through other means A.S.A.P. As long as we have a reason, you can be excused, but you have to let us know ahead of time. The Mods are very approachable; we shouldn’t have to hunt you down. CHARACTER LIMIT The current character limit is four characters per player. You must apply with each new character you wish to take up. On subsequent applications you may omit the RP sample portion though the Mods may ask for one if we do not get a clear idea of the character from the main application. Most Importantly make sure that you can handle the activity requirement with each character you pick up! If you repeatedly fail activity checks with one or two but not all characters you will be asked to drop a character until you are able to easily pass checks again. DRAMA RP drama is inevitable and, to an extent, expected. We intend to keep a friendly atmosphere for all players and remain OOC drama-free. If you have an issue with another player please contact a Mod so that any issues can be resolved in a quick and civil manner so that everyone can continue to enjoy the game. Those in violation of this rule will receive one warning. If behavior does not change they will be removed from the game. Player drama will not be tolerated here. IC drama is always welcome though. SHIPPING Slash, het, and femmeslash are all permitted. However, there should be no tilt towards any particular orientation. Keep in mind if your character is anything other than heterosexual that they should be played as the setting requires. Also, bear in mind that character relationships need to be born of an agreement between both players, as well as believable. If players seem to have joined solely for shipping purposes (and are disregarding other parts of the game for it) or are forcing certain ships on other players they will only receive one warning before being dismissed from the game. PBs PBs should be no more than five years past the age of the character they are portraying. The exception is if a PB is particularly youthful or you will be using icons from an early point in their career. Also, there should be a suitable amount of clear icons for your character. The Mods reserve the right to request that you either choose a new PB or use icons from certain films/time period that fit the age of your character better. A couple great sites to find PBs are PB Updates, Hollow Art, and Burlesque Show. OOC/GODMODDING/POWERPLAYING Every character is the possession of their player and no one else. At no time is it acceptable to state an action or reaction of a character that is not your own without their owner’s permission. Mary-Sues and Gary-Stus will not be permitted. Every person has strengths and flaws, talents and quirks, and no one is perfect. Please keep this in mind during character creation! Also, please keep portrayal of personal NPCs (such as family members) to a minimum. Those characters were not the ones you applied to play here. ROLLS In this game we will be employing the use of random rolls to determine the outcome of certain events. The most common will be to see if characters get caught by faculty breaking the rules. This includes fighting, sneaking off campus, drinking, etc. Rolls can sometimes be avoided if it is stated that characters take cautionary steps to remain undetected. Outcomes of events such as Quodpot will have a set system. Characters can receive bonuses for their team for mentioning practicing, writing plays, flying, and such in journal posts and scenes. This will gain positive points. It can also work against a team, such as in the case of a fight between team members, where players will gain negative points. A point value will then be added or subtracted to the base random roll for each time to determine the winner. All rolls will take place in an AIM chat room with player witnesses to ensure that all rolls are done in a fair and impartial manner. PLOTS & PROMPTS Here at Washington Irving we have some different ways for players to get involved in and suggest plotlines and get more involved in the game. These are not mandatory so players may feel free to participate as they wish. A post will go up weekly for events that did not happen in scenes to help determine house points, and IC and OOC prompts will be posted monthly! Please be aware that the game will be much more interesting for you the more you participate in plots and prompts! See our About page for more information on these! Personal plots (whether for a pair of characters or more) are encouraged here. Please make sure to run any major plots (death, pregnancy, etc) by the Mods before starting it! THREADS Thread headings should be formatted as follows: Characters: [Who's involved this scene.] Setting: [Where and when (morning, evening, between what events of the day) the scene is occurring.] Content: [For simplicity's sake, you can just use 'No Adult Content'/Worksafe/SFW or 'Adult Content'/Not Work Safe/NSFW. Adult Content is, of course, graphic sex or violence. State which (graphic sex or violence) applies to a post labeled with Adult Content. If a scene contains graphic sex, please make sure the post is Friends Locked.] Summary: [A short summary of the scene. Maybe what it's trying to achieve, what spawned it into being, and etc.] Links to Google Docs with the above tags are acceptable. All messenger logs (AIM or otherwise) must be placed behind a cut tag. Long introduction posts to scenes should also be placed behind a cut. You may copy the format below. LASTLY HAVE FUN! That's what a game is for, right? Enjoy yourselves and have a grand ol' time! Also, please feel free to contact the Mods with any questions, suggestions, or concerns at wiamods@gmail.com! |
